Bruce Johnson

Bruce A Johnson, Founder and Director of Performance for Helix Elite Performance, is well known in Austin, TX for the results in strength and conditioning he provides for his clients. Whether it’s Sanya Richards-Ross (2012 Olympic Gold Medalist), Michael Tinsley (2012 Olympic Silver Medalist), All-Pro’s Jamaal Charles, Derrick Johnson Michael Griffin, or Super Bowl Champions like Aaron Ross (2x), the Helix Elite Performance brand delivers excellence. Helix is currently training two-time Olympic medalist Natasha Hasting and 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist Kristi Castlin and a host of other Olympic hopefuls for the 2020 Tokyo games this summer.

Before Bruce ventured into the professional ranks, he served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of Texas Longhorns from 2001-07. While some might say that winning both the BCS National Championship in Football and the NCAA National Championship in Women’s Track & Field made for a lucky year for Bruce in 2005, Mr. Johnson helped the Longhorns Women’s Track & Field team repeat as National Champions in 2006. No luck there. During Bruce’s time at the University of Texas, he contributed to the success of ten NFL first round draft picks, (31) overall NFL draft picks and (30) NCAA All-Americans in football alone.

Bruce’s coaching time is not exclusive to professional athletes. Helix Elite Performance is the official Speed, Agility, and Strength Conditioning Training Partner of Austin Junior Volleyball (AJV). Bruce continues to work with AJV to create programs to increase performance and reduce injuries for Austin Junior Volleyball athletes. These programs helped lead Austin Junior Volleyball to four National Championships in three different age groups in 2013. Simply put, winning is in Bruce Johnson’s DNA.

Bruce Johnson holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Fitness, and Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bruce and his wife Veronica have two daughters, Kyndall and Maya.
